Go Green

You reduce, you reuse, you recycle. Do you want a green remodel as well?

We can help you design your new kitchen with recycled materials or products made from plants that are sustainably harvested.

Want a new floor? You can consider a new brand of linoleum made from eco-friendly materials. Cork and bamboo are also excellent flooring choices. Tile is better than carpet.

Moving to countertops, consider using stained concrete, porcelain tile and local stone. Counters and backsplashes can also be constructed from recycled or salvaged materials. Other natural surfaces include granite and quartz.

Looking at cabinetry, there are products made by companies who use wheat board or wood that's certified to have been harvested sustainably.

Stains, paints, finishes and glues with lower levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) are available.

It's all about reducing the amount of chemicals VOCs put into the air from the use of new materials.

Renovation Tip:
A general contractor should take care of obtaining building permits - it is the contractor's responsibility to obtain the necessary permits for the work being done on your home. For a typical basement development, you would need a building, electrical, plumbing and possibly a mechanical permit.
